HISTORY

In November of 2014, ten middle school and high school rowers, their families, and one coach dreamed of creating a learning environment where young people from the Dayton area are fully and genuinely supported and taught a skill set that would empower and encourage them to achieve at the highest level in the sport of rowing. In December 2014, Gem City Crew was born. It is the only youth-only rowing team in the Dayton area. Gem City Crew had humble beginnings in the basement of a house. Over the first year we partnered with the City of Miamisburg to gain access to the Great Miami River, acquired a dock, jonboats, motors, rowing boats, oars, trailer, and rowing machines. We have also partnered with various local organizations and individuals that have supported us with an indoor training facility and winter equipment storage.
